Trust & Compliance

What nManam actually verifies, what it does with your data, and which Indian regulators and laws it designs around — stated plainly, and updated as the platform is actually built.

How verification works

Every Clinician and Clinic on nManam is verified before their account can do anything — never self-certified. Two honest, distinct tiers exist, and which one applies is always shown, never hidden or blended:

Registry VerifiedCredentials Reviewed

Registry Verifiedmeans a Platform Admin cross-checked the professional's registration number directly against the RCI Central Rehabilitation Register or the NMC register. Credentials Reviewed means the category has no registry (a substantial share of India's mental health workforce is genuinely unregulated) or the professional hasn't yet completed registration — in that case a Platform Admin manually reviews degree and credential documents against our own published Professional Category Taxonomy for that category. Both are real, human-reviewed judgment calls — never a rubber stamp, and neither is presented as equivalent to the other.

Clinics work the same way — Registered Establishment or Individual-Backed — and every badge is shown consistently everywhere a profile appears, in search, and on the public /verify lookup.

These badges reflect nManam's own manual verification process. They are not issued, endorsed, or certified by RCI, NMC, or any government body — they are our record of having checked, shown honestly so you can judge for yourself.

Which regulators and laws we design around

  • Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) — the registry we cross-check for Clinical Psychologists, Rehabilitation Psychologists, Special Educators, Speech-Language Pathologists, and other RCI-registrable categories.
  • National Medical Commission (NMC) — the registry we cross-check for Psychiatrists.
  • Mental Healthcare Act, 2017 — informs how we handle confidentiality and consent as the platform grows toward anything clinical; see our plain-language summary of patient rights under this Act.
  • Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and its 2025 Rules — govern consent, breach notification, and how we handle personal data, including resume content sent to third-party AI processors for onboarding assistance.

We aren't a government body and don't claim any regulator's endorsement. Where our own design work is still catching up to what these bodies expect — such as reviewing how public testimonials should work for regulated professionals — we say so here rather than building it silently.

What we do with your data

Every field and document we collect is classified by sensitivity, with handling that scales accordingly: identity and credential documents are held in private storage behind time-limited signed links, encrypted at rest, and every access is logged — including which Platform Admin viewed it and when. Standing admin access to your account does not exist; anything beyond a specific review workflow requires an explicit, time-bounded, audit-logged support session.

You can export your own profile, CPD portfolio, referral and supervision history, signed agreements, and financial records at any time — leaving the platform never means losing your own record of your own work.

What nManam does not do

  • We never hold client or patient funds — payments route directly to a professional's or clinic's own connected account, minus our commission. We facilitate; we are not a party to the underlying care relationship.
  • We never store a client's identity inside a professional-to-professional record (a referral, a support-group log). Only the two professionals involved handle that directly, through their own channels.
  • We never auto-verify a credential. Every verification decision is a human judgment call by a Platform Admin, not a score or an algorithm.
  • We never disclose which verification tier a professional holds inconsistently — the same honest badge appears everywhere, every time.
  • We never take, give, or facilitate a fee for referring a client from one professional to another. Referrals on nManam are professional courtesy, always — never a commission, at any stage of the platform.

Community rules, reporting, and grievances

Anyone using nManam agrees not to post content that is unlawful, abusive, defamatory, obscene, or misleading; that impersonates someone; that infringes someone else's rights; or that identifies a client or patient. We remove content that breaks these rules.

Discussion Space posts are automatically screened for abusive language before they're published. A post that's blocked this way can be rephrased and resubmitted — nothing is sent for human review at that point, since the check runs before the post exists.

An in-app Reportoption on a profile or discussion post is coming; it is not live in this release. Until then, contact our Grievance Officer directly for anything you would otherwise report — harmful content, a client's privacy, or any other concern. We resolve reports about harmful content or a client's privacy within 36 hours, and every other report within 7 days, as the IT (Intermediary Guidelines) Rules, 2021 require.

Reach our Grievance Officer:

Grievance Officer contact details are being finalised and will be published here before nManam opens to the public.

If you're in crisis

nManam is a professional network and, in time, a directory to help you find care — it is not a crisis service and has no live staff monitoring it in real time. If you or someone you know is in immediate distress, please contact a helpline directly:

  • Tele-MANAS — 14416 or 1-800-891-4416 (toll-free, 24/7, multiple Indian languages)
  • KIRAN Mental Health Helpline — 1800-599-0019 (toll-free, 24/7)
  • Emergency services — 112

This page reflects what is actually built and how nManam is actually designed as of the date it was last updated — not aspiration. Our full compliance research and gap analysis, including open questions we've flagged for legal counsel rather than guessed at, is a living internal document we revisit as the platform grows.
